Holly had taken to wandering the castle whenever she pleased. After all, she was the daughter of the headmistress, and she really felt as if she was somewhat above the rules. Mostly, she was curious about this enormous and mysterious castle, and wanted to find out more about it. This evening, her travels took her to the school trophy room. Holly looked around at the gleaming trophies in the seemingly empty room, and stepped forward to examine one more closely. Holly held her lit wand tip to the trophy. There was a smudge on it, which she quickly wiped away. The name on the trophy was now visible. Tom Riddle. Holly's brow furrowed instantly. Every wizard or witch in the world knew that Tom Riddle was Lord He Who Must Not Be Named's birth name. So why had he been given an award for special services to the school? He ended up being the most terrible sorcerer in recent history.
Moving past the shield awarded to a young He Who Must Not Be Named, Holly discovered more about him. Apparently, he was also a prefect and Head Boy his final year. "How very curious," murmured Holly, trailing her fingers along the outline of his name. As she continued along the line of gold and silver medal trophies, she became bored with the lack of interesting things awarded to students. Finally, she approached a large collection, dedicated to the famous Harry Potter. Her mouth involuntarily split into a grin, and she gave an exasperated little shake of her head. Of course, practically this whole school was dedicated to him. He had been in her house. He had done so many things, mostly including defeating the dark arts, but smaller things. Holly saw that he was a member of the Gryffindor house Quidditch team, the youngest seeker in almost two centuries.
"Huh. He must have been quite good, then," said Holly to herself, presuming she was alone since she had yet to be disturbed. But she was proven wrong. There was a crash of a trophy toppling off it's stand just ten feet away. She twirled on the spot, brandishing her wand. "You shouldn't be out of bed so late." She said.

Stella had not slept well since the news of the death of Headmistress Marevas. Something seemed off to her, something just wasn't quite right. Instead of tossing and turning in her dorm, she had volunteered to taking as many nightly Prefect duties as allowed. She was not a fan of the new Headmistresses' idea of potentially replacing Prefects, especially since her daughter was in her own house and year, and she wanted to prove she was the best for the job. She had been lucky enough to get some grounds patrols, where Jared would sneak out to meet her for a small rendez-vous before she could be missed, but tonight she had been assigned the top three floors to patrol. She knew it meant no sneaking to meet Jared, but she had been surprised when he had shown up in the Trophy Room that night.
Before anything could get too serious, she heard someone else enter the room. Shooing him away, she crouched low, straining to see who had interrupted her. When she saw Holly, she only felt a small shock of surprise. She had gotten the impression the twins were prepared to take full advantage of their position as Headmistress daughter. Trying to sneak away without being seen, she accidentally stumbled over a trophy and found herself face-to-face with Holly, her wand in her face. Stella raised both hands and adjusted her shoulder so the red and gold Prefect's badge shone in the wandlight. "Actually, I could ask you the same question. I know why I'm here, why are you?" she asked, lowering her hands and stepping towards the girl.

Holly had been very curious about the trophy room and the people who had won awards. She wanted to have her name splashed across different golden shields, showing off her amazing abilities and contributions. Being famous would be fun-- she wanted everyone to know her name. She had been perusing the different awards when a crash sounded from within the room, and Holly whipped her head around, searching wildly for the source of the noise. She drew her wand, and raised her voice, threatening whoever had joined her.
Not lowering her wand, Holly scoffed at the girl. This priss of a housemate didn't intimidate her. Holly noticed that she shifted her shoulders so that her prefect badge shone in the light from Holly's wand. She rolled her eyes. "Seriously, you think flashing your badge is scary?" asked Holly. "You might not even have it for that much longer," she added smugly, adjusting her grip on her wand, lowering it infinitesimally. "I'm here looking at the lovely awards given to the school. You realize He Who Must Not Be Named has won several for services to the school? Before he went bonkers, of course," said Holly knowledgeably. "It's a bit scary that someone so valuable could go so rotten, don't you think?" asked the sixth year, tilting her head.

Stella felt every muscle constrict in her body; indeed she was finding it increasingly difficult not to slap the girl across her smug face. She kept this fantasy hidden though as she knew she was the Headmistresses daughter and from the tone in her voice she would go to her in a split second if she did anything. She forced a smile and walked over to look at the same award. "I suppose, but he was born out of a love potion infused union. I imagine since it was fake love he couldn't really know how to love, could he?" she suggested, remembering her History of Magic lesson from last year. Now that it wasn't taught by a ghost the subject had become far more interesting to everyone, especially since the new professor was more than happy to cover more recent historical events.
She studied her fellow Gryffindor with an almost curious expression. She'd heard plenty of people grumbling that they Sort too soon, but this girl had gone to Gryffindor in her sixth year; she wasn't entirely sure why. From the small sampling of interactions she had had with her, she belonged more in her boyfriends house, Slytherin. "Some people are just born to be evil; he hid behind a veil of academic perfection, but he was obsessed with his bloodline, torture and eventually murdering people. This is the man who split his soul seven times just to not die. I'd rather be academically average and face death like a normal human than what he did," she said boldly.

Holly was already bored with this conversation. She just wanted Stella to leave so that she could peruse the trophy room in peace. But of course, she was a nosy prefect and Holly didn't think she would leave her alone very soon at all. Sighing irritably, she half listened to Stella's rant about being born of fake love and being obsessed with bloodlines. In all honesty, why did love matter so much? "Why does love matter so much? People are born out of loveless marriages all the time, but it was so different for him." She had trouble comprehending the effects of a love potion, but then again, potions was not her forte. Maybe know it all prefect girl could explain it to her.
"Hidden behind a veil of academic perfection? I bet you wish that was you," said Holly with a smirk. She shook her head at Stella's bold statement. "Okay. You go ahead and do that." Holly moved away from Stella. She was really bothering her. Holly had been doing nothing wrong... well, she wasn't killing or torturing one or anything, and Stella had just attacked her with her need to be authoritative. Of course Holly would be defensive when she knew she was doing something wrong. But instead of just telling her off and demanding she return to the dormitory, she flashed her badge like queen of the world. Not that Holly would have listened. She decided very firmly that Stella was not and never would be her friend. Too bad for her, because Holly was an excellent and loyal friend. "What even is your problem anyways? Does it feel good to make everyone feel utterly beneath you?"

Stella didn't really think Holly wanted an answer on love potions from her, but that little bit of her brain that the Sorting Hat told her it had considered Ravenclaw for her plodded her on anyway. "Imagine one day you have a drink and before you know it, it's a year later, you're in a house with a complete stranger that only seems vaguely familiar to you and you're about seven months pregnant with that person's child. Not remembering getting married and pregnant? It's simply terrifying. Now just imagine you're a Muggle and you look down on people who are accused of witchcraft. It didn't help that He Who Must Not Be Named's mother wasn't exactly known for her beauty, and his father was a vain and arrogant man." She paused, taking a moment to look at the Special Services trophy. She wasn't even sure why it was still there; surely the former Headmistress would have taken measures to remove the trophy seeing as everyone knew who Tom Riddle truly was.
Holly's arrogant and delusional statements next should have hit a nerve with Stella. Perhaps it was that she knew the girl was the Headmistresses daughter, or perhaps she had just about had enough verbal abuse from a girl clearly on her own power trip. Whatever it was, Stella started laughing hysterically. She doubled over, tears springing in her eyes from mirth. She continued to chortle as she pulled herself together, looking Holly in the eye. "Let's be honest with each other here; you know I'm a Prefect, and I know very well who you are," she said, letting out another chuckle. "So here it is, I'm not going to get you in trouble, and you clearly just want to be left alone. I need to finish the check in this room, so I'm going to walk away now to leave you with this trophy." She turned on her heel and began to walk away. After a few steps, she turned around and spoke again. "By the way, there'll be other Prefects coming in this area in about an hour or so; I do believe your sister is on duty tonight," she said calmly, then gave her a cheery wave and continued down the hall to see if there were any other intruders who did not have the pleasure of being the Headmistresses daughter.

After being awarded a Prefect badge from her mother, it had been tremendously easy for Callie to roam the castle whenever she wanted. The Prefects had never given her any trouble, but the Professors had no problem telling her to get back to bed. Normally, in that case, Callie would just stare at them blankly before traipsing off wordlessly to her dormitory. Now, however, even the Professors couldn't tell her where to be. Callie had done her research on the other Prefects as well. One was always sneaking off for secret meetings with her Slytherin boyfriend, and Callie knew the Head students were using the Prefect's bathroom for more than just a soak in the tub. Such disgraces.
This evening, Callie was patrolling the upper levels of the school. She heard voices coming from the trophy room, and began to casually make her way over. The two she saw before her made the corners of her lips curl up ever so slightly. It was her twin sister Holly and some Gryffindor Prefect - the one with the Slytherin boyfriend. Holly must've said something that made the girl mad, because she turned on her heel and stormed off, only to come face to face with Callie. "Have somewhere you need to be?" Callie inquired icily. She phrased it innocently enough, but there was a knowing glint in her eye that seemed to say she knew more than she was letting on.

It took all of Stella's well built up self control to not roll her eyes as she came face to face with the mirror image of Holly; her twin, Calliope. She forced a smile and replied. "I was just doing my rounds in here Callie, which I'm sure you're aware of seeing as you were present at the assignments from the Head Boy and Girl." She looked round to Holly, who was still standing some distance behind her. It was very eerie; not that she had never met identical twins before, but these two gave her an uncomfortable feeling.
"If it makes you feel any better, feel free to take a look around. You'll only find your twin," she told her, then smoothed down the front of her robes. "I'm sure the two of you have some..catching up to do, so I will bid you a good night," she said with a nod and wave. She swished her robes and turned her back from the twins, walking at a pace that would not seem like she was trying to move too quickly. She would have to rearrange her meetings with Jared; Callie was clearly nosing about her business, and they would have to be more careful of their nighttime wanderings from now on.
