Name: Sarah Erin Talnip
Nicknames: Catnip. Never say it.

Birthday: January 1
Birthplace: Kingscourt, Ireland
Current Home: Safford, Arizona
Alma Mater: Slytherin
Profession: Studying Astronomy at International Wizarding School of Natural Studies

Patronus: Little Owl
Boggart: A succession of images of all her greatest worries in life on display.
Blood: Pure
Looks: Deep ocean blue eyes that naturally are always partially closed, it’s impossible for others not to look into them without feeling closed out and judged. She always looks serious and observant, rarely ever moving her lips into more than a cynical half smirk. Naturally golden blonde hair in waves, she usually has this up or occasionally pulled to one side. At a constant 5’1, she has to build herself up somehow, and has developed a slight athletic build, but remains fairly average. The most casual person, she ventures not much farther than a pair of jeans and t-shirt everyday under her robes. It can be noted that she has a wide array of large scars from a lack of fearing heights, resulting in many falls and tumbles throughout life.
Personality: Sarah is the most distant person many will meet. Up to being a teenager, she was rambunctious and nosy, traits that have resided but always remain. Always secretive, she became overly self reserved after something simply clicked to change her into a close off individual. After the death of her sister, she lost heaps of trust in the world and steadily decreased talking to others. By thirteen, she became nearly a mute. She shuts others out and it is a pain staking process to get anything out of her. Her mind is her own, the one thing she always has at her control.
With a huge competitive attitude, she hates to be challenged. What she enjoys, she excels easily at out of sheer drive and determination. Astronomy, pursuing a career, Charms, top of her class, and Quidditch, given captain her sixth year. Elsewhere, however, she lacks complete self confidence. She continues to be an easy target of others ridicule, another reason to avoid them all together.
Sarah avoids both confrontation and gossip at all costs. However, she does have that strike of nosiness that occasionally lands her in hot water. She’ll sprint away like the wind, skirt away from threats, but faces an internal struggle if directly, again, challenged. Years of resentment and anger fuel a thirst for revenge. She forgives and forgets very little.
Likes: evenings, cool and chilly weather, owls, competition, Qudditch watching, playing, and following [fiercely passionate for the Kenmare Kestrels], Astronomy and its related subjects, adventure walks, Charms [tends to abuse this skill by pulling small tricks on people she dislikes]
Dislikes: majority of people, her height, common traditional values, being picked and egged on, secrets, chatter, affection, mind games
Fears: Someone using magic to get into her head or using Imperio on her

History:
In the evening of a particularly severe blizzard, a pair of twins were born in Kingscourt, Ireland. At 7:16, Sarah’s twin, Leah, was born followed three minutes and thirty six seconds later by Sarah. The bond was undeniable, yet the two were fairly opposite in demeanor. Sarah pushed Leah around and was the leader, Leah attempted to keep her twin with a level head. They easily found adventures to partake in, excelled at playing one on one Quidditch, and camped often in the forest on their property finding magical creatures to torture.
As a typical pure blooded family, their father and his brother had a tight connection. This uncle brought his two sons, Tim and Aran Shawil, around at least weekly. Tim and Leah, black sheep, had their own personal connection, and Sarah tagged along. The two rely on each other now, but back then could hardly understand one another’s differences. The oldest Talnip sibling, Brendan, was independent and “manly”, who kept to himself and mainly was a figure of intimidation.
Old traditions die hard, and underground dark wizards still exist. This pure blooded family didn’t pass up this chance, and the Talnip parents were central figures through their twenties. However, while paternal instincts never kicked in for Dubhan, maternal ones hit hard for Reagan at the birth of Brendan. Dubhan was mildly understanding of these reservations but advised her to keep up a good face and tactfully skip out on participations; Dubhan, instead, would pick up her slack. When the twins were four this all came to a head with other pure bloods, and in the heat of things one of their own shot Reagan with a fatal curse.
Thus, the lacking father figure now had three children, job, and grief to face. Dubhan’s emotions truly shut off then, and Sarah has very few memories of him in her life. He quickly remarried two years later, perhaps more out of need of a homemaker to keep things going. A fourth child, Ryan, most strongly pureblooded driven of all the Talnip’s, would be born in result. Sarah would resent both of these additions highly, never forming a bond with either. The wife would be a pain, the brother an awful nuisance.
First year of Hogwarts Sarah and Leah would remain attached at the hip yet discover their individual selves more. On a Winter evening second semester, series of events unfolded leading to Leah being strangled and killed. It would completely tear down and change Sarah forever after. She would become cynical, focus only on her favorite interests, and withdraw entirely into herself. At fifteen, she would throw a whole life full of animosity and resentment in her family’s face during Winter break, move into a place in Hogsemade, and never have contact again.
Sixth year she would be named Slytherin Quidditch captain. She may have not been much of a group person or talker, but managed. Miming became a new found skill. She was a typical Slytherin, leading them with aggression and training them to the bone.
The Summer after she completed an Astronomy internship to set her up for an easy acceptance into Arizona based International Wizarding School of Natural Studies. In N.E.W.T’s, she would have to receive O’s in Astronomy, Arithmancy, Charms, and Elemental Magic; successfully, this happened. She would also graduate with an O in Occlumency and E in Quidditch History.
This higher schooling is the happiest Sarah has been in a long time. Currently in her second year, she spends long days and nights in class and studying. She occasionally puts on a good face and sits amongst her peers, soaking in their banter while sipping on Firewhiskey. The few who find real interest in her know to pick up brooms and set her up as Chaser to really get her involved. She works weekends at the Owl Post Office and keeps a healthy relationship of weekly letters going with Tim.
