QUIDDITCH RULES & EXPLANATION!
Quidditch at the Hogwarts Magic School is always an exciting event. Everywhere plays the game differently, and here's how we play:
Our Quidditch matches are based on the classic Muggle game of Battleship; there will be a grid that upon introduction to the match will be completely blank, like this:
The referee will pre-determine which spots will be goals, misses, and saves for each team, similar to battleship. They will also determine the spot in which the Snitch will be located. The Seeker is the ONLY one who can get the Snitch spot, so refs must have backup spaces for the Snitch!
The game will start with the Captains of each team choosing a number between one and ten. Whichever captain gets closest has control of the board first. The order will go as follows:
>>Chaser, Chaser, Chaser, Beater, Beater, Keeper, Seeker<<
You will be alternating teams each turn. For example: if Gryffindor wins the tossup against Slytherin, then a Gryffindor chaser will go first, then a Slytherin Chaser, ect. You will post your board choice as follows:
Squares will be chosen like battleship, E5, A2, ect.
rules!
1: You must submit a square choice within a FOUR day period (preferably sooner) or your turn is forfeited.
2: You cannot choose the same square as someone else. If you do and you don't change it before the referee sees it your turn will be forfeited.
3: You MUST go in the order that will be given during the pregame conference. If you go out of turn, your turn AND the person's turn who it was supposed to be will be forfeited.
4: There are two penalty shots per team per game; they are as random as the Snitch space so don't complain if you get one!
5: There are no do-overs with the spots you pick. If you don't like the outcome of your space then do your best to pick one more to your liking next time
6: Finally, no bribing, seducing, blackmailing the referee into telling you which are the good spots. If the admins find out about it (oh and we will) you'll be in deep trouble, so don't do it. You have been warned
types of outcomes!
If you see a black X it means you have just had a normal turn - no scoring occured, no snitch cited, ect.
Gryffindor Chaser Luke Rousseau flies upwards and makes a nice pass to fellow Chaser Devin Elmsford. Gryffindor still in possession
If you see a green X it means that your team has scored - congratulations!
Slytherin Chaser Sarah Talnip dodges a stray bludger and beats the Gryffindor keeper for a goal! 10-0 Slytherin
If you see a red X it means the other team has BLOCKED your shot:
Ravenclaw Chaser Tristan Scott flies directly towards the Hufflepuff Keeper, shoots and SAVED by the Keeper!
SEEKERS, if you see an orange X it means you have spotted the Snitch! But it got away
The Ravenclaw Seeker has spotted the Snitch! But a well aimed bludger from a Hufflepuff beater distracts both Seekers and the Snitch has vanished once again!
Finally, for Seekers only, if you are fortunate enough to see a GOLD X....well, you know what that means!
Hufflepuff Seeker Sam Kane has seen the Snitch! He is neck and neck with the Ravenclaw Seeker and...Kane has it! He gains 150 points for Hufflepuff Quidditch and the game is over!
penalty squares!
There are two kinds of penalty squares, penalty calls FOR your team, and penalty calls AGAINST your team. There are two per game and are on random spaces on the board. Penalty shots mean an automatic 10 points for whichever team they're called for so be wary of them.
If you see a blue X, it means that your team has been awarded a penalty, which you make and get another 10 points for your team
PENALTY on Slytherin for blatching by Philippa Kane! Chaser Brooke Santini takes the penalty and puts it away easily for 10 points! 20-0 Gryffindor!
If you see a purple X, it means that a penalty has been called against your team, which they make and get another 10 points for their team.
PENALTY on Gryffindor, cobbing by Chaser Devin Elmsford! Slytherin Chaser Sarah Talnip takes the penalty and scores easily for Slytherin! Slytherin up 20-0
The game will end when the Seeker gets this correct space that holds the snitch, and a winner will be figured out.
Look for the matchup schedule as soon as the teams are all filled. So, sign up for Quidditch and get ready for the season!
