.::The Basics of This RPG::.
Now we move on to the basics of how we roleplay here, and how we expect you to roleplay and create characters:
introduction!
First off, we require characters have a first middle last name, such as Sarah Talnip. Names not acceptable include just first names, names with numbers in them, and screennames. Just think of it this way; do you want people calling you quidditchcutie19? Didn't think so.
Also, please be creative with your character surnames; don't name your character Harry Weasley or Hermione McGonagall: this rule goes for other franchises too please. You will be asked to change your character's name if you don't comply with this format; constant reminding will be grounds for termination.
Finally, please make sure you have a photo of an actor/model/singer/celebrity/real person to accompany your character. It is important because it helps visualize your character better to other RPers. We will not accept your characters application without proper photo identification so be aware of this if you decide not to put up a picture.
Now, the important part: the format. We follow a pretty simple and regularly used RPG format here:
<post>
tag/whoever it is you want to tag
It's nice and easy to follow. ALWAYS use past tense, and keep your grammar and sentence structure in check! We also suggest in introductory threads (you're posting your character in the thread for the first time) you add a picture of your character in between the Character name and the post. This creates a visual for the RPers and makes RPing a lot easier.
If you have a question for someone you're posting with, add it at either the top of the post, before the character name, or below the post, after the tag using OOC, or out of character. For example
OOC: this is an example
...You get the picture.
Finally, when posting, make sure to make your posts longer than 1 or 2 sentences. The world count is currently set to 50 words. Describe feelings, emotions, scenery, description and dialogue! It makes the thread more of a story than just posts sort of threaded together, and much more fun to reply to. This especially holds true to starting posts. Starting posts are generally expected to be a bit longer than reply posts because they set the scene for that particular plot point. Don't be afraid to start posts! New members get noticed that way and acknowledged as fellow RPers. And as always, be sure to remember the rules before starting up!
character creation!
First off, don't make your character a Mary Sue. What is a Mary Sue do you ask? Well, we'd be happy to tell you! A Mary Sue is defined as a character who is idealistic, lacking flaws, an overidealized self-insertion of the player, unrealistic, or characterized by several cliched and archetypical traits, including physical appearance, nomenclature, history, and personality.
Now doesn't that sound like a fun person to be around?....yeah we don't think so either. Nobody is perfect, give your character some flaws, it's okay! If you create too much of a Mary Sue trust me, we will be happy to tell you about it.
On the flipside, there is such a thing as too many flaws. If your character has a psycological disorder, that is perfectly fine; many people have those disorders and is a perfectly reasonable flaw. However, if you say, try to kill a mental institution worker, they would not send you to Hogwarts; they'd send you to St. Mungos. Going over the top with the flaws is also a bit unbelievable, and you might scare the pants off of people on the way.
Your profile will have to be approved before it can be put in the appropriate section, so don't worry, if there's something off in your profile our lovely moderator Hawk will make sure to tell you! For mini and macro profile pictures the size that works best with this layout is Height 400-450 and Width of 150
